This has been a long time coming, and almost didn't happen as I had previously written this into contract during the use of Zero Break Game Design as trade dress, but with things back in service under the name of Zero Break Games I decided that I was going to make it official. I have reacquired the publishing rights for Story of Two: Fable of a Divided World, which is being developed by Atelier Erni, and (as with Advent Heroes) will be distributing the game as an ID@Xbox title with other storefronts to be announced in the future.
In keeping with the Zero Break Games mission to highlight projects which challenge the way you think about characters, gameplay and other aspects of what goes into video game development, Story of Two: Fable of a Divided World puts players into the roles of Roccio and Nuvola, two youngsters who make the bold decision to run off on an adventure inspired by their knowledge of stories passed down across many generations, without regard for the consequences of their decisions or the expectations of those who they encounter on their journey.
Gameplay in Story of Two: Fable of a Divided World also exemplifies the Zero Break mission by forcing players to make wise use of their weapons, attack skills and other aspects of classic roleplay designs with its provisions of limited resources for using and purchasing items, weapons and other equipment, as well as the fact that only a select few in their world are ever born with the ability to heal others through mana powers. This limited access to healing services and the limited disbursement of any kind of cash rewards make for a game design that will challenge players to think about how best to approach battles and other hazards respective to the genre.
Story of Two: Fable of a Divided World is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.
