As of today, Zero Break Games is suspending its operations and will not continue with its obligations at the present time. Though I tried my best to make this work, I refuse to fool myself into thinking outside of reality and will not allow this to linger without results. Additionally, there are some creative shifts with ongoing work that may extend beyond a focus on game development.
There are a few important reasons for my decision:
1 - I'm not currently in a position to fund this thing. Dedicating financial resources to game development is expensive and unsustainable if not supported by reasonable expectations.
2 - The planning process for Tail Force has not progressed to my satisfaction and currently lacks sufficient direction to continue. This is largely the fault of my intent to use realism with the game's characters as it does not line up with the backstory structure (which would require additional planning and development to address).
3 - Atelier Erni's development of The Story of Two is in an uncertain state, and it is unclear as to what's going on as I have not received any progress updates over the past few months.
Although I'm stepping away from active investments in Zero Break Games at this time, I will never lose sight of the experiences that I have had along the way. As a side note, the Tail Force assets and characters will be repurposed into a different format and genre for use in a similar story, so it's not like anything that I have done or created will be going to waste. However, this will take a while to complete, which is why I'm suspending my commitment to Zero Break Games projects while I sort this out.
I will keep the domain and this announcement up and running as part of my personal budget while I sort out my next steps in case I either pick things up again, formulate a creative identity that matches a change in business direction or both.
