It's already been just a few weeks since the reactivation of Advent Heroes as the launch name for what I had initially referred to on this site as Project Able Heroes, but things have only picked up since then. In that time, I have had a number of potential opportunities which have presented themselves for publicity and exposure, and I am fairly keen on maximizing every potential avenue to get Advent Heroes into the spotlight, if the Sovereign God is willing. While I won't be able to schedule anything with significant distance requirements at this time (which is a shame, because I so wanted to get this out at PAX East!) I did settle for a few other options within a more general radius to at least start things off.
First off, I submitted for a Maker series event in mid-February owing that the bulk of the game assets for Advent Heroes are done in RPG Maker MV and February 15 is the Maker Day for that particular development toolchain. In addition, I am tentatively looking to get the game out in front of many more people in June for the mid-year iteration of Steam Next Fest. More information on both of these online events will be provided at a later time if participation is cleared.
In terms of actually going out in the public forum to show off content from Advent Heroes, I have replaced my aforementioned PAX East plan with submissions for presentations at C2E2 in Chicago, which is scheduled for late April. The status of these submissions will also be confirmed in mid-February, and I'm hoping that at least one of my ideas gets picked up for a formal presentation. Beyond this, I do at least plan to show up at the event regardless of what happens for a more informal sharing of the game. Other, similar events that I have on my radar are Des Moines Con (located right here in Iowa) and Kokorokon (which is in another part of Illinois) ... and if I can make outreach with other people, then other events may present themselves as well (perhaps maybe I can make PAX West work instead? Who knows?)
Although to be fair, PAX West may be a bit of a stretch - not just because of distance, but because the release schedule for Advent Heroes doesn't have to rely on it. In fact, I am now anticipating that principal work on the game will most likely be completed by the time C2E2 rolls around. All this to say that I am now anticipating a late-April content freeze on the base game, with May and June for polishing and translation work. However, in order to stay within Next Fest rules, I will not be publishing or conducting sales activity on the immediate after work has been completed so the game will start pre-orders on the Microsoft Store after the Next Fest conclusion (with June 18th as the earliest start date) and will continue up through release on August 2. In addition, only minimal translation will be done at first in order to accommodate the accelerated release schedule, with a primary focus on the Spanish version of the game dialogue.
All told, it's been fairly busy overall and there's hopefully more to share as the release of Advent Heroes inches ever closer.
